Two people injured and material damage after ravenous fire in Miami Dade

The cause of the fire is being investigated as suspicious; the firefighters indicated.

Two people were injured after the raging fire that broke out this Monday in a building in Miami Dade, and left considerable material damage in surrounding properties.

The fire started after a strong explosion, according to neighborsLocal 10 News. The burned building housed a used furniture store, a restaurant and a tobacco shop.

The incident occurred in a business located on 94th Street and 17th Avenue, in northwest Miami Dade. In a matter of minutes, firefighters arrived at the scene.

More than 15 units moved to the area. According toTelemundo 51, there they encountered a raging fire that caused dense smoke and flames that rose into the air, leaving the property and threatening other neighboring businesses.

The cause of the fire is being investigated as suspicious., indicated the firefighters. A car parked at the back of the property also caught fire.

Two people were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if anyone was inside when the fire broke out.

For several hours, the road was closed to traffic. Once the danger passed, an FPL team worked to restore electrical service.

Angélica Manzaneres, a neighbor whose home adjoins the accident, was one of those affected by the flames, which passed to her house and burned her business's ice cream truck.

“This is a total loss. I spent over $20,000 to fix it the way I wanted and now it's gone. This is what gives me the money to pay the rent, to pay for everything, to eat. And now how am I going to do it? “I have nothing,” he toldLocal 10 News.

Luckily for her, Minnie, a two-year-old Chihuahua dog who lives with her, was able to be rescued by the firefighters.

“This is the best friend I have,” she said. “I feel happy that she is alive because if she had been dead I would never have forgiven myself.”

The event adds to the list of recent fires in Miami Dade County, such as the large one that broke out in mid-February ina waste-to-energy plant of Doral and that mobilized firefighters and authorities.

The Miami-Dade Fire Department asked residents to stay inside their homes, with doors and windows closed and recirculating air in the homes. The fire remained active for more than a week.

Days later, another fire broke out in asolid waste treatment plant in Doral, but this time it was controlled in a short time by county firefighters.

The incident occurred when a garbage lot caught fire outside the plant, located near NW 87 Avenue and 58 Street.

At the end of January,a four-month-old boy and his great-grandmother died in a fire that occurred in an apartment in southwest Miami-Dade, during the early morning hours. Firefighters managed to rescue the child's parents, but it died hours later in the hospital.
