Several teachers harassed the young Cuban teenager Reniel Rodríguez for months, before heCarlos Marx of Matanzas ended up being expelled from the IPVCE.
The teenager, known on social networks as Lunático Debates, suffered for a year from the harassment of the IPVCE teachers and directors, who described him as a “stain” for the center.assuresa report from the Observatory of Academic Freedom (OLA).
According to the testimony of a student, Daneysi Acosta, director of the center, thought of several plans to expel the young man who achieved notoriety after joining thethe civic march of November 15, 2021, convened by the Archipelago joint.
“We were asked, as members of the student organization, to approach him to try to dissuade him from his political stance. The teachers thought that they couldn't do it without feeling intimidated,” the former president of the Federation of Secondary Education Students (FEEM) at the center commented on the matter, in an anonymous capacity.
“Personally, I had a lot of contact with him because I liked him, he is a knowledgeable guy. Without hanging the medal on myself, I was the one who alerted him that they were making his bed to get him out,” he added.
Acosta, who tried to use several minor incidents as a pretext for expulsion, began harassing the young man for the content about the school that he generated for his YouTube channel and with which he did not agree.
The director made derogatory comments in public about the young man and the content he generated.
The two other members of the faculty who constantly attacked Lunatic Debates were Frank Leyva, who taught Citizen Preparation classes, Luis Ángel Santana Pereira, a Chemistry teacher.
Leyva included the 15N Movement in his teaching content, specifically Rainel, whom he publicly discredited in front of his classmates.
Santana Pereira even physically attacked the student, hitting him in the chest. An incident between them, where the young man raised his voice, was taken as the definitive pretext for the expulsion.
The expulsion of Reniel Rodríguez from the IPVCE of Matanzas was taken automatically and without consulting his legal guardians
The young man was also not allowed to take the exams corresponding to the teaching semester, which could cause him to lose the academic year.
After presenting a complete account of the expulsion, which is supported by the testimony of several students, OLA denounced “the teaching limbo in which Rainel Rodríguez remains, as well as the constant harassment, including cruel and degrading treatment, that he received from the staff.” teacher at the IPVCE Carlos Marx of Matanzas.”
In November 2021, Reniel Rodríguez called on his native Cárdenas to take to the streets to ask for freedom. As a result, the regime locked him up in a behavioral school and pressured his family to stop speaking out on social media.
Reniel, known on social networks as "Lunatico Debates", published a video on November 15 where he joined the Civic March for Change called by the citizen platform Archipiélago, and asked the people to support it.
Before being taken to the police station, a member of the Communist Party, presumably guided by State Security, ordered him to delete the video of his march, and write a tweet in which he asked his followers not to continue spreading it, something that did.
Before 15N, from his Twitter account the teenager had not stopped criticizing the government, asking for the freedom of political prisoners and criticizing school indoctrination.
