Cuban recovers from surgery after being shot by police in Santiago de Cuba

The official version of the event claims that the young man attacked the police officer with a machete, while independent reports claim that the officer shot him in the back.

A young Cuban would be recovering from surgery after being shot last Sunday by a police officer in the town of El Cristo, in Santiago de Cuba, according to sources linked to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).

The information transcends after this Saturday the influencer Brian Infante (A Thinking Asere) brought the case to light and assured that The police officer shot young Luis Carchabal Silot in the back.

“The police officer is known in the area as El Rapero and it would be the third time he has used his weapon against a person. "The boy is very serious, his life is in danger," said the influencer.

Given this information, the anonymous Facebook account Sofia CJ, associated with the MININT, stated that the police officer shot after being attacked with a machete by Carchabal Silot.

“On Sunday night, three police officers in areas near the Cristo checkpoint surprised three citizens who each came with a sack of horse meat, the product of a crime of illegal cattle slaughter that they had just committed.” , reads the official post.

"Immediately the officers give the order to stop, at which point the citizen identified as Luisito attacks one of the officers with a machete, who after firing a warning shot into the air, is forced to shoot this individual to preserve his own life,” the story continues.

Official information assures that, after undergoing an operation lasting several hours, the young man is out of danger.

"Currently, he remains admitted to the ward recovering and will be placed at the disposal of the courts for the crime of attack, his condition worsening since at the time of committing the crime he was on probation," adds the post from this official account through which the police are trying to clean up their image, in the midst of the escalation of violence that the island is suffering.
