China donates one hundred thousand dollars for the recovery of areas affected by the rains in Cuba

The donation takes place at a time when the alleged existence of agreements between Havana and Beijing for the installation of military training and espionage bases in Cuba have set off alarm bells in the United States.

This Tuesday, China delivered a donation of 100 thousand dollars to the Cuban government for the recovery of areas affected by heavy rains and floods a few weeks ago.

The donation, managed through the Chinese Red Cross society, was delivered in a ceremony attended by Ma Hui, Chinese ambassador to Cuba, and the vice minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment on the island, Deborah Rivas,the official informedLatin Press.

The Cuban official thanked the gesture and highlighted the close relations between both regimes, while the ambassador of the Asian country recalled that his country has collaborated in the recovery of natural disasters and accidents in the Caribbean country.

The torrential rains of recent weeks leftsevere damage to homes and loss of human life in the center and east of the island.

In Camagüey, 455 homes were affected, with 46 total collapses, while more than three thousand people were sheltered, according to official data.

In Granma,More than 10 thousand homes suffered some type of damage, with 65 total collapses, 214 partial collapses.

In April it was learned that the Chinese government donated to Cubaequipment to face drought and carry out sanitation work worth almost 30 million dollars.

In January,another Chinese donation of 100 thousand dollars It was delivered to support projects with social impact and prioritized sectors of the economy, according to the official press.
