Esteban Lazo asks for a tough hand: "The sanction that hurts people the most is having their things taken away"

Esteban Lazo stated that the most effective sanction against offenders is the confiscation of merchandise and property

Esteban Lazo Hernandez, member of the Political Bureau and president of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP), declared himself in favor of seizures and confiscations of merchandise and property as the most efficient way to hit where it "hurts most" to the alleged violators of the laws.

"Gentleman, the sanction that hurts people the most here is having their things taken away, more than fines. I take away your merchandise, I take away your property for violating the law, because here we must respect the laws of this country. "This is a country of law, if you have a license I will take away your license, and if you continue violating the laws, you go to court," Lazo said this Wednesday in the Economic Affairs Committee of Parliament.

Lazo also stated that the economy is governed by laws, and that they must be complied with.

SaidIt is not enough to adopt administrative, price control and regulation measures if they are not followed due to lack of organization, demand and planning.

His words in the Parliament's Economic Affairs Committee summarized the debate that gave rise to the report presented by the Minister of Finance and Prices (MFP), Vladimir Regueiro Ale,on the effectiveness of the measures established to confront abusive and speculative prices, especially in food and transportation.

He believed that it is not yet possible to speak of the effectiveness of these measures in terms of regulation and price control given the non-compliance of some.

Lazo assured at another point in his speech that "in Cuba the human being is at the center of the government's attention," and called to differentiate the concept of "high prices from abusive ones", which he said require systematic combat.

The party leader also said that the first thing is to be able to produce more goods and services, and that there are enough offers.

In that sense, he pointed out that "the will of the State to subsidize the regulated family basket, electricity and other basic services prevails", in which - as he indicated -There is no inflation even when international prices increase.

The president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba even compared the Cuban situation with that of other countries, and was proud to say that the basic basket is subsidized, and thatThere are countries where people cannot buy things because of the high prices.

In another debate that went viral this weekEsteban Lazo spoke harshly to the deputies of the agri-food commission on Tuesday, from whom he demanded fewer programs, measures, studies, diagnoses and more results: an increase in production and more food for the people.

On a day where the failure of the Food Sovereignty Law, approved just over a year ago, was confirmed, the highest figure in the Cuban parliament did not hide his discomfort.

“I haven't heard about the results yet. Where are the results of all this? The strength is that what was agreed upon has been fulfilled,” said Lazo, visibly upset, who concluded by asking “How long are we going to be in that situation?”, dissatisfied with the poor results shown at the meeting.
