North Korea shows off new drones and ICBMs

The North Korean leader Kim Jong Un showed his new nuclear capable missiles and attack drones at a military parade in the North Korean capital, on the eve of "Victory Day."

The deployment of its armed wing in Pyongyang commemorated the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, an event attended by the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, and Li Hongzhong, member of the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party, noted Reuters.

The parade included the last intercontinental ballistic missiles North Korean Hwasong-17 and Hwasong-18. It is believed that they can reach any point in the United States.

The event also included a flyover of new attack and espionage drones.

North Korea's new submarine nuclear attack drone, called "Haeil," also appeared in the parade for the first time.

Pyongyang claimed the weapon can travel hundreds of kilometers underwater before detonating under a target.

In his speech at the event, the Minister of Defense, Kang Sun Nam, stated that the United States has no chance "of surviving if they use nuclear weapons" against the North.

"Now, the question is not whether a nuclear war will occur on the Korean Peninsula, but who will start it, when and how," he added.

Kim Jong Un hosted a reception and lunch for the Russian Defense Minister and pledged solidarity with his country's people and military.

Shoigu, for his part, praised the North Korean military as the strongest in the world, and the two spoke of strategic security and defense cooperation.

In another meeting, the Russian official read a congratulatory message from President Putin, who thanked North Korea for its support during the "special military operation" in Ukraine, media reported.

The United States has accused North Korea of supply weapons to Russia for his war in Ukraine. State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel said Thursday that the United States was "incredibly concerned" about their ties.

North Korea and Russia have denied engaging in arms deals.

Although in previous years Beijing and Moscow tried to distance themselves from their neighbor's development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, this year they did not hesitate to make an appearance at the events with the North's nuclear-capable missiles.
