Kim Jong-un congratulates Díaz-Canel on his re-election

The president of North Korea, Kim Jong-un congratulated the Cuban ruler Miguel Diaz-Canel for his re-election as president of Cuba.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry shared a photo of both political leaders greeting each other, with Cuban and North Korean flags in the background.

The publication generated comments on social networks, where one user pointed out that it was a greeting between leaders of "of absurd countries".

Another person commented that it is a singular recognition of "a mega dictator, crazy and with slanted eyes, congratulating a hitchhiker who is where he is." for being trustworthy".

On April 19, 2023, the National Assembly of People's Power ratified Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in the position of president of Cuba, with 459 votes, which represents 97.66% of the total number of deputies. The president's second term should extend until 2028.

Díaz-Canel's reelection occurs in the midst of a deep energy crisis, accompanied by great inflation that pushes thousands of Cubans into extreme poverty.

The political leaders of Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Azerbaijan, China, among other countries have also left their official congratulations to Miguel Díaz-Canel for his re-election.
