A Cuban denounced the excessive accumulation of garbage in several areas of El Vedado, in Havana.

“Every day closer to the garbage on 23 and 20, in Havana's Vedado. In recent months I reported it here, I passed photos and text talking about the situation to the delegate of my constituency. "He responded to me that he has had several areas like this a few weeks ago, that the municipality has serious problems with collection by community members, that the FAR is supporting, but unfortunately they overlooked us," denounced Mario Muñoz, a resident of that neighborhood, in a Facebook post published a few weeks ago.

“Despite the fact that we reported the situation on the corners of 20th, 24th and 27th Street. In our case, they also removed the garbage container that was always on that corner. It wasn't stolen. I know we're not the only ones. “Will we have to privatize Comunales?” he complained ironically.

Already in November of last year, residents of El Vedado had protested online about the numerous garbage dumps that proliferate in that populous neighborhood of Havana, which exacerbated the serious epidemiological situation that the capital is going through and generates unrest among its residents.

Given the successive complaints and denunciations published by the photojournalist Pedro Luis García and reached the Provincial Directorate of the Community Services Company, several months ago a worker was assigned to clean the area. This did not last long, despite complaints to the Aurora Company, the entity in charge of sweeping the city streets.

The situation is repeated over and over again in one of the most central neighborhoods in the country, where many national and foreign visitors come together, as it is an area of great social and cultural interest.

The garbage dumps in Vedado are an indicator of all those that extend throughout the country. Comments on social networks allude to the fact that, if Vedado presents these problems, in the rest of the neighborhoods of Havana and in other provinces it is worse.

Recently, Cuban journalist Pavel Otero denounced this Thursday that at least 15 garbage cans overflow in various corners of the Canal del Cerro, in Havana.
