At least 52 people died in work accidents last year, according to official figures published by the National Office of Statistics and Information (ONEI).

Both state entities were also those with the highest number of injuries, with 237 and 131, respectively.
In total there were a total of 1,858 work accidents that affected 1,948 workers, said the ONEI.
The report indicates that 63.2% of those injured were men and 36.8% were women.
By province, Havana had the highest number of work accidents, with 534.
This figure represented one in every three incidents officially reported last year.
The figures coincide with that of the Independent Trade Union Association of Cuba (ASIC), which reported the death of 61 people in work accidents between January 2022 and June 2023, and denounced that Cuban workers are subject to a sharp deterioration in their health. physical due to lack of adequate nutrition, as well as high levels of stress, work overload and general dissatisfaction.
