The Cuban popular musicianEmilio Frías, director of the El Niño y la Verdad orchestra, asked for freedom for the people of Cuba with the motto that has become a sign of his music “Cambio”
“Whoever is afraid of the price of freedom will die a slave.”wrote on Facebook the singer next to an allusive image where his face is seen as a watermark of images that refer to the suffering of the Cuban people in their search for a better future.
Thousands of Cubans have reacted to the publication and have given their support to Frías's request in hundreds of comments.
“So much truth in those words, we need a change and a big one,” said a Cuban.
“You are right, CHANGE is the only possible way to fulfill ourselves as human beings, to have a dignified life, to achieve the most important of man's Rights, his FREEDOM. Blessings to you,” reflected an Internet user.
“Your words are very real, always with the truth, you are a singer of your people and you love your country and you have your feet firmly on the ground Cambio Alaroye Bien,” said another.
Yesterday the singer shared images of a concert in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, the country where he took up residence this year, where he was wrapped in the Cuban flag.
Last April, El Niño and the Truthhad to cancel a massive concert in Havanaand assured his audience that he feels very “sad and disappointed” that he was not able to say goodbye to his audience.
“My people, I am very sorry to inform you that the concert in La Plaza Roja de La Víbora is suspended due to problems beyond our control. “I am super sad and disappointed because I had organized a great show to say my farewell, in addition to being my first massive concert (that is, in the street) after my return to the stage in Cuba, but it couldn't be,” said the singer.
Emilio Frías's relationship with the Cuban authorities has remained tense due to his openly critical stance and reached its peak in 2022, after an incident at the Galiano House of Music, in Havana, where the musician was censored when he tried to release his song “Cambio.”
After spending a period away from Cuban stages after the censorship case, El Niño y la Verdad returned to perform in Cuba at the end of the year 2022, as a guest ata massive concert by Alexander Abreu and Havana D’Primera, on the boardwalk. Emilio was very emotional about this reunion with the Havana public.
