Emilio and Gloria Estefan awarded by the Recording Industry Association of the United States

"Thank you RIAA for this award and for recognizing the importance of our Latin culture and the impact it has had on the music industry around the world!" said the music producer


This Tuesday,Emilio andGloria Estefan were recognized by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

For her career and contributions to Latin music, Gloria Estefan received the Icon Award. "She is one of the most successful Latin artists in the world in the history of music with 25 million certified units and 23 titles in the Gold and Platinum program," the RIAA acknowledged on its social networks.

Emilio Estefan, for its part, received the Industry Pioneer award.

"From shaping the careers of top Latin superstars, his vision became a global brand and a symbol of prestige among the world's greatest leaders," the industry said of him.

On their social networks, Gloria and Emilio thanked them for the awards and shared videos and images of the ceremony, held in Washington.

"It was a night of Latin pride, wonderful music and recognition for those who want to make a change. I am very grateful to RIAA for this beautiful tribute and award. May the world continue to see the beauty of our culture," said the hit singer like "Mi Tierra" or "Conga".

"Thank you RIAA for this award and for recognizing the importance of our Latin culture and the impact it has had on the music industry around the world!", reacted the music producer.

The other people recognized this Tuesday were the Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra, "Artist of the Year" for the RIAA, María Fernández from Sony Music Entertainment as Executive, while Verónica Escobar and María Elvira Salazar received Politicians of the Year.
