A young Cuban resident inSibanicú, in the province ofCamaguey, died while in police custody, allegedly due to medical neglect and negligent procedures by the authorities, as reported by the family on social networks.
An extensivewritten spread on Facebook by a cousin of the victim reports that the young manDenis González Sifonte He had been involved in a fight that left him badly injured.
"We know that he was not a saint, but like every human being he needed medical help, this being one of the greatest achievements of this revolution," says the testimony, published in the group "Denouncing crimes in Cuba."
The complainant explains that upon arriving at the hospitalHe was treated by a doctor who violated "a series of medical protocols."
"Seeing the patient bleeding from the ears due to the blows received in a fight, he diagnoses minor injuries and hypoglycemia. He does not treat him as established, which is to leave him under observation for at least 12 hours; nor does he refer him to another hospital institution with greater resources, say , Camagüey or Guáimaro. Let the police take him away,” he explains.
The complainant emphasizes that, despite the poor physical condition of the injured man, the police detained him "as if he were an animal, even though he was in the medical conditions" indicated above, and with the doctor's authorization.
The relative explains that around 10 at night the police called the hospital saying that they were going to take him back to the hospital. However, such a thing never happened.
According to the testimony,The young Denis González Sifonte returned to the hospital as a corpse, around 4:30 am. The source assures that provincial Legal Medicine personnel certified that at 4 in the morning he was already dead.
“As a family member, I ask that justice be done to all those who in one way or another had to do with the death of my cousin, since unfortunately we cannot have him among us, we are the ones who are suffering from it from the heart," he lamented and said that the deceased young man left behind a 7-year-old daughter "who every day in this world will ask about her father."
In the final segment of his complaint, Denis González's family member expressed hope that, despite everything that happened, justice would eventually arrive and those involved in the unfortunate case would be arrested.
"I trust that all those involved in my cousin's death will be judged with the full weight of the law of this country from those who attacked him, and those who in one way or another did not treat him properly in time and allowed him to “died”, he concluded.

It is not the first recent complaint that alludes to the death of a young man while in police custody.
