“My mother has not been allowed to see him or talk to him. They just say that it is part of a process and that you have to wait. He is denied making calls to his family and to date we know nothing about him,” denounced his sister Roxana García Lorenzo in a Facebook post.
“A few days ago my brother told a letter where he was clearly hoping that they would retaliate against him. We still do not know the reasons for this strike. But I ask everyone to share and that together we raise our voices for him and for every political prisoner who continues to be a victim of the regime," he added.
The young man from Santa Clara was sentenced in April 2022 to four years of deprivation of liberty for his participation in the anti-government outbreak of 11J, a sanction that was modified to an open regime on May 31.
However, he was subsequently detained again to be sent to a forced labor camp under internal regime, and then sent back to prison.
His sister and other relatives have suffered severe harassment from the Cuban regime due to their complaints on networks, which has caused the exile of part of the family.
Last December, Tahirí Lorenzo Prado, Andy's mother, performed a solo protest for his son's freedom and held State Security responsible for the physical integrity of the political prisoner, who had been threatened with death in prison.
The woman, outraged after a phone call with the young man, carried out the protest alone with a sign demanding the prisoner's freedom along Second Street in La Vigía to the Villa Clara Prosecutor's Office.
