Polish cartoon "Bolek and Lolek" turns 60

The characters of Bolek and Lolek are well remembered by Cubans and over time they became cultural icons of their time.


Bolek and Lolek stones have been made. This year Polish cartoons celebrate their60th birthday and they continue in the memory of Cubans.

Originated within theBielsko Studios in Poland, these unforgettable characters were conceived by the creative mind of the animated filmmakerWladyslaw Nehrebecki.

Their television debut took place in 1963 and given the overwhelming reception they received, the animated stories ofBolek and Lolek They developed uninterruptedly until 1986.

This 23-year period saw the creation of approximately 200 episodes, making them a television phenomenon that spread throughout Eastern Europe and beyond.

Cuba was one of the countries where young spectators enjoyed the adventures ofBolek and Lolek almost every day, on the children's program "Los Muñe".

Nehrebecki's work, since its premiere, left an indisputable mark both in his country of origin and in the childhood memories of Cuba.

The cartoon seriesBolek and Lolek tells the adventures of two children with very active and adventurous personalities.

They achieved fame during the broadcast stage of their drawings on TV, but their presence continued to expand in toys, puppets, graphic material and other products.

These characters were immortalized through versions in comics and literature, further enriching their cultural contribution.

Celebrating 60 years since its first broadcast in 2023,Bolek and Lolek They stand out for their timeless influence both in the Polish cultural sphere and in the hearts of Cubans.
