On November 22, we marked the first anniversary of Pablo Milanés' passing. A year after his physical departure, his daughter, Haydée Milanés, shared words to honor the man who is always with her and taught her to love music.
On her social media, the Cuban singer dedicated a post to her father filled with nostalgia and deep love.
"Whenever I think about my father passing away on the day of Santa Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians and poets, I feel it as a magical and beautiful twist of fate. It has not been an easy year without him. A few days ago, I thought about calling him and talking to him, hearing his voice, and I realized that was no longer possible," Haydée wrote.
"I was telling a friend that, in truth, I don't feel that he's gone; on the contrary, I feel him closer to me every day. Sometimes I sense him when I talk to my daughter, when I look at a landscape, when I read a book, listen to music, or eat something he used to enjoy. Now my father accompanies me everywhere, and he has taken command of that blessed light that guides, protects, and supports me," the artist confessed.
"I'm at peace because I know I gave him so much love, and I never tired of telling him how much I loved him. Today, I don't feel sad; I sing him a song and say: I love you, Dad, I put some beautiful flowers for you!" she concludes her post.
On December 15th, Haydée will perform a concert at the Flamingo Theater Bar in Miami in tribute to her father, where she will sing several of Pablo Milanés' songs that will forever resonate with lovers of his music.
This Wednesday, Liam Milanés also remembered his father and expressed on social media that he misses him dearly and feels his absence greatly.
