Cuban arrested for setting fire to his wife's apartment in Hialeah Gardens

The man went to the house, stole the dog and set the house on fire. The fire caused damage to a neighboring unit and affected seven people, including two children.

A Cuban from Florida was arrested on Monday, accused oftaking his wife's dog and setting fire to their apartment in Hialeah Gardens.

Roisel Valdes Cuello, 32, set fire to the home, located in the 9800 block of Northwest 82nd Avenue.

The incident occurred last Sunday, around 1:00 in the morning.

A surveillance camera captured the moment the man entered the apartment through a sliding glass door, and later when he ran through the parking lot with the animal under his arm.

According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Police Department, he was arrested and now faces two counts of attempted murder, arson and criminal mischief, as well as one count of robbery.

When questioned, Valdés Cuello denied all the facts.

For her part, his wife stated that he had previously told her that he wanted the dog to return with him.

The police clarified that the woman was staying in the apartment with a friend, although the information, published byLocal 10, does not specify if they were in the place at the time of the fire.

The fire also caused damage to a neighboring apartment. According to the American Red Cross, a total of seven people were affected, including two children.

The Cuban is detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was placed on bail of $111,000.
