The Cuban guyLuis Alberto Orta He has been nominated for Greco-Roman Wrestler of 2023 by the United World Wrestling (UWW), the organization that directs sports wrestling at an international level.

Orta, who took thegold medal in the 67 kilo category at the World Cup held in September in Belgrade, Serbia, appears first on the list published by the UWW on its website, in which there are four other nominees.

The world and Olympic champion has accumulated an impressive record, with relevant results this year in championships and continental games and in Ranking Series events.

In addition to the world title, which guarantees his attendance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Havana native was a gold medalist in the Pan American Championship, champion of the XIX Pan American Games, and bronze medalist in the Zagreb Open Ranking Series and the Ranking Series. from Kyrgyzstan.

He was ranked number 1 in the world with 86,400 points.

In addition to him, vying for recognition are Iranian Amin Mirzazadeh; Akzhol Majmudov and Zholaman Sharshenbekov, both from Kyrgyzstan; and Leri Abuladze, Georgia.
