Eliecer Ávila asks Rachel to marry him in the middle of a concert in Miami

The Cuban opposition Eliécer Ávila he asked his girlfriend to marry him Rachel Vazquez on Friday in Miami, in the middle of the concert Haydée Milanés at the Flamingo Theater Bar.

On his knees and amid the applause of the public, the activist showed the ring to his girl, who visibly excited accepted the proposal. After the romantic kiss, Eliécer thanked the singer for her complicity.

Haydée's concert was a resounding success, with all the tickets sold and an audience that enjoyed her presentation, which the singer-songwriter dedicated to her father Pablo Milanés.

Eliécer and Rachel have maintained a solid relationship since they met in Cuba, where they suffered harassment from the regime for their political activism. In 2017 they emigrated to the United States, where their two daughters were born.

At the beginning of the year they both had great joy, upon obtaining US citizenship.

He is currently a businessman and influencer, although he has not abandoned the fight for the freedom of Cuba. A few days ago, the Cuban regime included Ávila on a National Terrorist List published in the Official Gazette No. 83 of December 7.

The list, of 61 people and 19 entities that Havana accuses of sponsoring terrorism in Cuba, includes several investigative files.

File 71/2021 includes public figures based in Miami, whom it accuses of "inciting the carrying out of actions that affect the social order in Cuba, through violent acts against public officials and the normal functioning of socioeconomic entities; as well as promoting "armed aggression against Cuba".

In response, Eliécer described the list as "absurd and stupid".

"There is a very easy method to know who the terrorists are: Was I the one who divided the Cuban family, the one who ended Cuba, the one who caused the youth to emigrate everywhere, the one who bled the nation, the one who has starving a town?" he questioned.

"No, that's not me, I'm not the one who curtails freedoms, the one who has more than 1,000 political prisoners is not Eliécer Ávila," he concluded.
