A Cuban mother who had been sleeping outdoors for three months with her two youngest children on the streets of Holguín because they had nowhere to live, received this Monday a home purchased thanks to the generosity of many people and the intervention of Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia.
"Thank you all, thank you. The street is over because wanting is power," the activist wrote on her networks, who thanked everyone who collaborated in the good cause.
"It was not an easy task at all, but when hands of solidarity come together at will, nothing is impossible," wrote activist Yamilka Lafita, known as Lara Crofs, on social networks, who after a general thank you, had special words for Diasniurka Salcedo.
"Diasniurka Salcedo Verdecia, you move mountains with your example of a mother of war and a worthy woman", Lafita sentence.
It was in November through Cántalo TV that the case of a Cuban mother who had been sleeping outdoors with her two youngest children on the streets of Holguín for three months was revealed because they had nowhere to live.
The woman, 35 years old and identified as Yirisleidis Pupo Rodisa, has two children: Julián Santiago Pupo (11 years old), who suffers from congenital heart disease, and Jorge Yilier Gaínza (14).
According to the aforementioned source, the government's only proposal to that mother had been to take the children from her and take them to an institution for minors without filial protection.
In recent years, numerous Cuban families have obtained a home to live in thanks to the solidarity donation of thousands of Cubans in all parts of the world.
The best-known project is Ministerio Cristo Cambia Vidas - headed by comedian Limay Blanco - who has delivered around twenty homes to needy families, mainly in Havana.
