The Cuban rulerMiguel Diaz-Canel recalled a speech byFidel Castro pronounced on January 1, 1959, where he assured that neither thieves, nor traitors, nor interventionists had come to power, but a true revolution.

Díaz-Canel published on his profile on the social network X, a thread with different fragments of the speech he gaveFidel Castro after coming to power.

"This time, fortunately for Cuba, the Revolution will truly come to power. It will not be like in '95 (it was actually in 1898) when the Americans came and took control of this," says the first fragment.

Fidel Castro In that speech he mentions different episodes in the history of Cuba and makes several errors in the data. However, more than the dates, what he wanted to highlight is that all these stages of struggle had false triumphs because those who took power were Cuban villains.

Castro tried throughout his life to make the Cuban people and international opinion assume that those who overthrew Fulgencio Batista in 1959 would be the eternal heroes of Cuba.

"It will not be like in '44, the year in which the crowds became enraged believing that the people had finally come to power and those who came to power were the thieves.Neither thieves, nor traitors, nor interventionists. This time it is the Revolution"he says in the aforementioned speech.

This last phrase is perhaps the most important in the current context of deprivation, poverty and repression that is experienced in Cuba, because thegovernment of Miguel Díaz-Canel He is pointed out daily as "thieves, traitors and interventionists", among many other things.

The current president evidently tries to take refuge in the words of the late communist leader, to convey the idea that his government continues to be a "revolution."

The new year begins with great uncertainty and hopelessness for the Cuban people. Despite the harsh crisis that the country is suffering, the regime announced that they will increase the cost of numerous services and will reduce the food subsidy of the basic basket.

These and other economic measures alarm the people because they indicate that the situation in Cuba in 2024 will be much worse than what has been experienced in these 65 years of revolution.
