Family asks for help to send the body of judoka Maricet Espinosa to Cuba: "There is a devastated mother"

“There is a 2-year-old girl who was left without a mother and her relatives do not have enough funds to send the body to her country,” says the request for help published on the GoFundMe platform.

Family and friends of theCuban judoka Maricet Espinosa, who died on Sunday at the age of 34, presumably due to a heart attack, have launched a request for help on social networks with the aim of repatriating his body to Cuba.

A friend of the athlete, named Yudeysi Batte, started an open fundraiser to repatriate her body on the platform.GoFundMe.

Batte explained that he was fundraising in order to "be able to send the body of my friend, my sister Maricet Espinosa, who just died this 01/21/24."

“I call on all colleagues, friends, athletes in the world in whatever way they can help, I would appreciate it,There is a 2-year-old girl who was left without a mother and her relatives do not have enough funds to send the body to her country.”said the woman.

As of the writing of this note,The fundraiser accumulated more than $1,300 of a goal of $15,000..

Also, relatives of the athlete contactedCyberCubato request collaboration in the repatriation of Maricet's body.

"Good morning, we Maricet Espinosa's relatives are watching and seeking support to see how we send her body to Cuba, we are in Armenia, there is no Cuban embassy here and since you echoed it, I thought you could help us with your page ", they noted in the message.

The Facebook user identified as Wanda Más Valdés also echoed the request.

“I dare to ask everyone to share so that his body can be transferred to Cuba.There is a devastated mother and a neighborhood that will always miss her and a country that needs to say goodbye.Let's do everything possible to bring her home"wrote the woman, apparently a resident of Santo Suárez, a Havana town where Maricet lived.

Born in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality of Havana and nicknamed “La Mole” for her notable physical strength, the athlete stood out for several years as a member of the National Judo Team, wherewon two gold medals and one silver at the Pan American Games, all in the 63 kilogram category.
