The Assembly of the Cuban Resistance (ARC) presented this Tuesday in Miami a new international campaign called 'Unity and freedom for a democratic change in Cuba and against communism'.

Orlando Gutiérrez, representative of the Cuban Democratic Directorate, said in statements toTelemundo 51 that the initiative plans to support Cuban political prisoners, exile and the resistance on the island.

In addition, it contemplates actions tosupport Sweden in its claim that the European Union's subsidy to the Havana regime ceases.

Musicians and artists based in South Florida supported the proposal, including Amaury Gutiérrez, Marisela Verena, Carlos Oliva, Jorge Luis Piloto, Luis Bofill, El Funky and Greg Jackson.

Gathered at the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora in Miami, those present listened to songs such as “The Anticommunist March,” whose music video was recorded with Paquito D’Rivera and the American singer Greg Jackson in its English version.

Gutiérrez affirmed that with the union it will be possible to end the regime, citingTelemundo 51.

Renowned political leaders and international activists who advocate for change on the island also participated in the event.

The ARC brings together some 50 organizations for democracy and respect for human rights in Cuba.

Since 2022, this organization has been carrying out a campaign to prevent the European community from continuing to support the Cuban regime with subsidies that are used to repress the people of the island.

Last November, the Government of Sweden formally requested the review of the Agreement on Political Dialogue and Cooperation (ADPC) of the European Union(EU) with the Cuban regime, and alleged that serious human rights violations had occurred on the island.

The Minister of Development and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, criticized the EU's policy of "constructive engagement" with the Cuban regime as ineffective, and said that the ADPC has been applied provisionally for just over five years.

However, "the situation in Cuba is extremely worrying. The reports of torture in Cuban prisons are alarming," said the minister during a parliamentary control session to the Swedish executive.
