Two men are injured in a shooting that occurred Sunday night on the Palmetto Highway in Miami-Dade County.
The two individuals were traveling in a white BMW car on State Road 826 eastbound, in the Golden Glades Interchange area, in Miami Gardens, when another car approached them and someone inside opened fire.
Alejandro Camacho, spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), informedTelemundo 51 that the driver was shot several times, lost control of the steering wheel and crashed the car into a concrete wall.
The person in the passenger seat was shot in the leg.
Both had to be taken to the Aventura hospital, the driver by helicopter and the other by ambulance. The first is in critical condition and the other is stable.
The police are investigating the incident and so far no further details have been revealed. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of State Road 826 and diverted traffic to southbound I-95.
