A group of at least five illegal migrants disembarked this Wednesday morning inHobie Beach, nearlyKey Biscayne, in Miami-Dade County.
Around 7:18 a.m. (local time), Miami-Dade police responded to a report thatabout five migrants had been seen near the 200 block of Rickenbacker Causeway, according to the local press.
Two of them -male-They were taken into custody of the authorities and received medical attention.
However,nothing is known about the other three.
“The other three were possibly still in the water on the boat.”Miami city police toldCBS News in a somewhat surprising statement since the images released by the local press showed the boat on the shore.
According to Miami police,Florida Fish and Wildlife (FWC) is taking charge of the investigation, something also striking considering that in the case of migrants it is not the Border Patrol that is in charge.
As of the closing of this note, the Miami sector of the Border Patrol has not disseminated any information about the case on its social networks.
The nationality of the two detained rafters has also not been revealed.
The United States authorities returned to Cuba on Wednesday 25 rafters, among whom was a minor, who left the country illegally on February 15 through Playa Baracoa, Artemisa.
The group was made up of 16 men, eight women and one minor, who were intercepted at sea by US authorities.
According to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), so far this year they have been returned 131 rafters in seven return operations by sea from the United States.
