The Cuban comedianUlises Toirac reacted tofuel price increase coming into effect this Friday, a measure that will further aggravate the poverty in which a large part of the population lives.
Ulysses commented on his wallFacebook that from now on fuel prices in Cuba will be according to the international market, "taking into account that the Venezuelan and Russian 'allocations' have dropped to minimum levels."
"What awaits us is mikimbin. Many families without that are 'vulnerable'. And when I say 'many' it means two or three timbales," he said.
The comedian recalled that every day the value of the national currency, with which salaries and pensions are collected, loses purchasing power, to the point that one dollar is now quoted at 310 pesos.
In addition, he explained what is happening with shipping companies from abroad. "They have prices that are going beyond all logic. Let's say, for example, a carton of eggs is $22 (not including shipping), so aid is becoming more difficult. In other words, not even having FAITH makes you totally immune," he said.
Toirac recalled that fuel has to do with everything, from electricity to private transportation, agriculture, customs or civil registry procedures, theater performances, even Internet connection or private restaurants.
"There are people who bristle at other things. My thing with what's going to happen starting tomorrow is getting irritating, so what am I going to tell you. More and more I remember the scene ofThe survivors in which the former ringo-rango lady gets her hands on the grass while sitting in a ruined water fountain that doesn't add anything," he concluded.
In recent months, Ulises has been very critical of the measures adopted by the Cuban government.
At the beginning of February, he assured thatIn Cuba we can no longer speak of "resistance", but of "savage survival".
"We are already in a humanitarian crisis. With a very small layer of beneficiaries (with increasing income) and a large layer (growing) in the most absolute poverty," he denounced.
"Our old people do not have medicines and food to face the ailments of age. Children do not have adequate nutrition for their mental and physical development," he added.
"There is no triumph, there is no victory to boast about. There have only been failures. A very long chain that has brought us here, and promises to continue 'moving forward'," he concluded.
During those days, the comedian spoke out about the dismissal of the Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil Fernández, and other ministers. According to what he said, Gil is not to blame for the crisis, and his replacement, Joaquín Alonso Vázquez, will not be able to do anything either.
"He won't decide anything either, he will have to deal with dictated solutions. They are juggled with too many balls andthen they are the scapegoat"he stated on his Facebook.
The actor addressedto the leaders and asked them if they are going to continue experimenting.
