Ministry of the Interior confiscates vessels found in Cuba

"Natural or legal persons with rights over the property found and who maintain an interest in exercising them, must go to the headquarters of the captaincies within 30 business days from the publication of the note to claim its return."

The Directorate of Border Guard Troops of the Ministry of the Interior reported the confiscation of a green fiberglass boat, with 3.80 meters in length (length), 1.80 meters in width (width) and 0.70 meters in depth (height), found by members of these port and coastal surveillance and control forces on July 1, 2023 in the Juan Clarito canal, Corralillo municipality, Villa Clara province.

The military institution noted that it acted under the protection of section four of Resolution No. 1/2015 of the Minister of the Interior, which regulates the confiscation of vessels found in the aquatic spaces of the Republic of Cuba, in favor of the Cuban State. The seizure responded to Resolution No. 31/2023 of the Head of the National Department of Port Captaincies dated December 26, 2023.

Likewise, the Captaincy of the Matanzas port of Cárdenas notified the discovery of a boat, on December 30, in a place known as Canalizo de San Silindrán, in the municipality itself. The boat is of the Yola type, it has a light blue color and the hull material is fiberglass. It is 7 meters long, 2.10 meters wide and 1.10 meters wide, as well as a 75HP gray YAMAHA outboard motor, without awning or other identifying information.

On the other hand, the Havana Port Captain's Office announced that it had found on December 12, 2023 a vessel in the vicinity of El Náutico, in the Playa municipality, of the Yola type, Boston Whaler model, without identifying data, white in color, with fiberglass hull and 6 meters in length, 3.5 in width and 1.5 in depth.

In accordance with article 214, paragraph c) of Decree No. 317, Regulation of Law No. 115 "On Maritime, Fluvial and Lake Navigation" of the Republic of Cuba, natural or legal persons with rights over the property found and who maintain interest in exercising them, they must go to the headquarters of the captaincies within 30 business days from the publication of the note to claim their return. To do this, they must present legal documentation that proves ownership or possession of the asset.

The Cardenas Captaincy is located on Céspedes Final Street and the Havana Captaincy is on Coloma Street, number 59, town of Casa Blanca, Regla municipality. Those affected by the resolution that protects the confiscation may also complain, in writing, before the Head of the Directorate of Border Guard Troops, within a period of 20 calendar days from the publication of this note.
