Despite finishing in tenth place in the SH1 50 meter pistol competition, the Cuban parashooterDi Angelo Loriga secured your place for the nextParis 2024 Paralympic Games.
According to a sports media reportJIT, Di Ángelo's qualification was achieved in theNew Delhi Parashooting World Cup, in India, and this was due to the fact that the first nine on the list already had a place previously.
Di Ángelo competed alongside Yenisgladis Suárez and Alexander Reyna, in the event in which he achieved 526 points, while his teammates reached 522 and 502, respectively. This result allowed the Cabaiguán native to secure his place for the French capital.
The test was dominated by China (1,611 points), supported by the performance of Xing Huang, Chao Yang and Xiaolong Lou. The second place was taken by the Indian team (1,573) thanks to the performance of Rudransh Khandelwal, Nihal Singh and Raj Singh.
In other results from Sunday's day, Suárez and Loriga came in fourth place in the SH1 10-meter air pistol mixed team event. With 30 shots each, they accumulated 546 points, divided into 276 from Yenisgladis and 271 from Di Ángelo. After this result they went on to discuss the bronze medal against an Indian team, but they fell 16 points to eight.
Finally, in the 25-meter pistol for women, the Pan-American medalist Yenisgladis obtained 528 points and settled in 28th place, in a world tournament that takes place at the Dr. Karni Singh shooting ranges, in the capital of India, between on March 6 and 15.
A total of 268 athletes attend the competition, 178 men and 90 women, representing 49 countries.
