The Cuban reggaeton player Yosvanis Arismín Sierra Hernández, better known as Chocolate MC, wanted to remember his first steps into the world of the urban genre and the beginnings of the cast in Cuba.
To do this, he has dusted off an old photograph from 2010 in which he appears posing with fellow urban singer Luis Alberto Almanza, or simply The Uniko, another of the founders of the cast in Cuba along with Chcolate MC.
To also demonstrate that their friendship has been going on for 14 years, the King of Casting added to the snapshot a recent photo with El Uniko making a collage.
In addition to his photographic memory, Chocolate MC wanted to tell what those first years were like in which the cast began to emerge within the island and how difficult it was to gain the support of the public, since in those times no one was betting on that rhythm.
"One day at the Raúl Díaz Argüelles scholarship I told Tito: 'let's make a duo' and Tito told me: 'Let's go there'. From that day on we began this journey towards the top. We were hungry, needy, we cried, "We dreamed, we shared bread with croquettes for both of us, they underestimated us, they told us that we wouldn't get anywhere with our distribution.", he said first.
"We were the only ones singing that style, no entertainment artist trusted our style. At that time there was no repartero movement, since it was just me and Tito singing Raga Morffa, censored throughout Cuba. Repa music did not have the support and the freedom we have today in Cuba. Having to make a video with my mother's camera. The mikis and the entertainers looked at us with disgust, people were embarrassed to say I'm a delivery man, we didn't have networks and there was no internet in Cuba, When we told the producers to put the clap on the entire beat, they told us that we were crazy and many even said that we would never be anyone and that that rhythm would never be worldwide.", he added.
And finally, Chocolate MC wanted to conclude by claiming that both he and El Uniko are "an example of improvement and a couple of visionaries", since the cast has managed to reach global scales alongside other urban singers on the island.
"Today, 14 years later, we can say that we are an example of improvement and a pair of visionaries who, at just 16 and 17 years old, changed the history of the urban movement forever. The era of Morffa".
Uniko reacted to Chocolate MC's words and responded to his colleague's publication with the following phrase: "From The Sites to the world".
