As a result of the popular protest in the city of Santiago de Cuba this Sunday, users began to report cuts in internet services.
Immediately they appearedthe first videos of the demonstrations, people inside and outside Cuba reported having problems connecting, while others assured that there were total interruptions by the Cuban state telecommunications monopoly, ETECSA.
Even in some areas of the eastern city, people have not been able to connect to the internet again, while some users do so with difficulty, mainly from home, through the Nauta service and using some type of VPN.
In other cities in Cuba, such as Sancti Spíritus, Holguín and Pinar del Río, problems such as slowness in accessing social networks have also been reported.
During thehistoric protests of July 11 and 12, 2021, implemented the strategy of cutting off internet access as a way to prevent people from uploading videos and photos to the networks, to document the events and denounce the regime's repression against the protesters.
Hundreds of people came out this Sunday to protest in a neighborhood of the city of Santiago de Cuba, shouting “Homeland and Life”, “current” and “food”.
The demonstration began on the central avenue of Carretera del Morro and 9th Street in Veguita de Galo, in the provincial capital.
“The people have taken to the streets of Santiago de Cuba and have launched themselves to demand an end to the blackouts and many other problems that are affecting the population of Santiago de Cuba,” said communicator Yosmany Mayeta on the social network Facebook.
