Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, revealed this Friday in a statement that has beendiagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment.
In a video posted on the official account of the Prince and Princess of Wales, the wife of the heir to the British throne explained: "In January I had major abdominal surgery in London and at the time my condition was thought to be non-cancerous.
“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found that there was cancer. Therefore, my medical team recommended that I undergo apreventive chemotherapy treatment and now I am in the early stages of that treatment,” Kate added in her statement.
The princess clarified the reasons why she and her family kept her health condition out of the media: “William and I have been doing our best to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery to be able to start my treatment. But the most important,It has taken us a while to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and assure them that I am going to be okay.”
In her statements, the Princess of Wales asked the media for privacy: “As a family, now we need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. "My duties have always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to returning when I can, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery."
He ended his statement with a message to those suffering from cancer: “"For all those who face this disease, in any of its forms, please, Don't lose faith or hope. They are not alone".
The news of Kate's illness comes after two months in which the princess remained away from public life and society.recent controversy that was unleashed as a result of a photo of Kate with her children for Mother's Day that caused a stir among the media due to doubts that it had been "manipulated."
