Another breakdown partially paralyzed the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant this Thursday of Matanzas, which could further aggravate the energy crisis that keeps the population under blackouts of up to 16 hours in some areas.

According to official journalist José Miguel Solís, the plant is locatedlimited "momentarily" to 135 MW, due to difficulties in one of the feed pumps.

"But as engineer Jorge Gómez Sánchez, head of production, emphasizes, they remain online and working to solve the problem that must take a few hours," added the reporter with an inexplicably optimistic tone.

On Tuesday of last week, after more than two weeks in maintenance, Guiteras synchronized with the National Electroenergetic System (SEN), only tosuffer abreakdown less than 24 hours later.

Reporter Solís tried to downplay the importance by saying that the facility was repairing "a problem in the boiler, a red point, for which the solution is not complex," in addition to a steam leak in a measuring element of the turbine.

Finally, on Wednesdaythe facility came into operation after the "small stop to resolve some defects and adjustments to the main equipment," as announced by the Electrical Union.
