After an alleged improvement that would entail the entry of several shipments of flour into the country, the Food Production Company in Villa Clara reported this Monday, through the local official media of that province, about the impossibility of producing the demanded standardized bread, due to the lack of the main raw material in that territory.

According toOdel Dueñas, director of the aforementioned entity, “since this weekend it has been impossible to make bread for the basic basket,” in a situation in which “We still do not know when we will be able to restart that distribution that we used to do every other day in wineries and other points of sale in the province.", includes a brief note published on the official radio stationCMHW.

The manager assured that the availability of flour in Villa Clara is minimal and confirmed that “It is only enough to guarantee bread in hospitals, maternity and nursing homes, grandparents' homes, blood banks, day care centers, homes for children without family protection and in basic secondary schools, as part of the school snack.”.

Since at the end of February,The Cuban government announced severe effects on the distribution of bread, the population has been suffering interruptions in the distribution of the demanded product.

According to authorities from the Ministry of the Food Industry (MINAL), the effects would be felt on the island until the end of March. However, the people of Villa Clara start April with bad news.

Precisely, in mid-March, thearrival of a ship to the port of Santiago de Cuba with 8,300 tons of wheat flour was going to stabilize bread production in the provinces from Ciego de Ávila to Guantánamo, as revealed by theCuban News Agency (ACN).

Previously, another ship with wheat had landed, but through the port of Cienfuegos, which, although it was not going to guarantee total consumption of bread production, would allow a gradual recovery of the arrears for the west and center of the country.

Likewise, the government maintained the use of extenders in the production of the product at up to 15 percent.

At the moment,On the island they await the arrival of a ship with 235 tons of flour donated by Saint Vincent and the Grenadines To Cuba.

A note from the official agencyLatin Press indicates that the shipment will arrive at the port of Mariel.

Faced with this panorama, the people of Villa Clara react dissatisfied with the information offered by the state media.

“And that problem was going to be resolved at the end of March, well if it was resolved like the Gordian knot was resolved, they removed it completely,” said one Internet user.

Another person asked: how do I make it for the children's snack?

More formal was the comment of another user who alleged the previous information that has been given from that official platform.

“Information was given at the beginning of the month of March that the supply of flour was stabilized in the month of April and in the middle of March a ship arrived with this raw material that can be reported by responding to the information follow-up of that base information. ”, he inquired.
