"25 pesos for 11 grams of bread is an abuse," denounced a retiree in Las Tunas

A retiree reported that a bakery in the province of Las Tunas sells a loaf of bread, only 11 grams, for 25 pesos.

Rolando Reyes, a pensioner in the provinces of Las Tunas, reported that a state-run bakery sells bread weighing 11 grams for 25 pesos.

“I passed by the bakery and saw that there was a lot of bread. I was surprised, and when I went and asked, they told me 25 pesos for this," the man reported while holding the small product, in a video published by the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights.

Behind him was a man with three children, who was going to buy each one a loaf of bread, he said.

“The man, when they told him the price, said 'let's go,'” Reyes said.

The father left, visibly affected by not being able to pay such an exaggerated price for the three loaves, he pointed out.

Reyes explained that he bought this bread, something that for him was “wasting money,” just to make this complaint, and regarding the raw material of the product he said: “I don't know what the hell is here.”

He pointed out that he doesn't have enough money "because the miserable checkbook they pay me doesn't provide enough to eat for three days."

Reyes emphasized that he would continue making this type of complaint even if they called him an opponent of the regime.

“I'm not afraid that they will come to my house, that they will put me in prison, I will always report it, you are a bunch of shameless people,” he added.

“How long are we going to endure so much abuse, misery, so much need when the bosses have everything?” he concluded.

At the beginning of March, the regime announced instability with bread production in Las Tunas.

However, the director of the Las Tunas Comprehensive Food Industry Company, Alberto Fonseca Rodríguez, said on March 13 that the manufacture of this food had stabilized in the province.

On March 21, an official journalist from the municipality of Jobabo warned that Due to lack of salt, the population of that territory did not receive the precious food.
