Cubans in Tampa requested help this Friday for the son of Arianna Hernández, affectionately known as "La China", a young woman who is in a vegetative state after suffering a series of medical complications.
The woman has been admitted to the Melech Hospice House in Temple Terrace, Florida, since March 28, when she was left in a coma "after a seizure and several strokes.
The middleScissors inFacebook explains that as a result of this the patient "was left without oxygen for several minutes and her cells died that are irreversible."
In the last few hours, Hernández has been disconnected from the ventilators that helped her breathe.
Doctors have informed the family that the chances of survival are minimal, with a rate of only 0.01%, the text states.
This news has left the child without his main caregiver, and although his father recently arrived from Cuba, he does not have employment or resources to cover the expenses that this situation entails, including the woman's wake.
The patient's relatives are available at (813) 220-2056, in Tony's name.
Neighbors of Cuba and relatives of the young woman have expressed theirshock with the news, and his wishes that the family find comfort in the face of the medical prognoses.
"This news has left me shocked, I just found out, my God, how painful... How many things we share and live together," said a friend of Hernández.
