Cuban shooter Jorge Félix Álvarez certifies his presence in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The Cuban guyJorge Felix Alvarez certified its presence in theParis 2024 Olympic Games, by finishing second in the 25 meter rapid fire pistol modality of the XIV Americas Rifle and Pistol Championship held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Álvarez accompanied his compatriot on the podiumLeuris Pupo, who has had his ticket to the French capital since the pastPanamerican Games held in Santiago, the capital of Chile.

With first place secured, after aiming for 30 targets, it was time for Álvarez to focus on beating the PeruvianKevin Luis Altamirano, who ultimately finished in third position, surpassed 22-19 by the Cuban.

With this result, the Havana native completes the quartet of Cubans who have secured their tickets to Paris next summer.

In this same tournament, they achieved itLisbet Hernandez, bronze medal in the women's 10 meter air rifle event andLaina Pérez, who won a silver medal in the 25 meter pistol.

Lisbet will debut under the five rings, while Jorge Félix and Laina will repeat their presence from Tokyo 2020. They will accompany Pupo in his seventh attendance at the Olympic Games, according to the official digital portal.Cubadebate.

Until last February,Cuba had 20 athletes officially classified for Paris 2024, according toJosé Antonio Miranda Carrera, general director of High Performance of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER).

Cuba attended theTokyo 2020 Olympic Games with only 69 athletes, historically the third smallest delegation. On that occasion he finished in 14th place with seven gold medals.
