The authorities of Sancti Spíritus launched an alert in their territory due to the gas leak in a primary school.
Deivy Pérez Martín, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party (PCC) in that province, referred to the case on her social networks and confirmed that "the situation is already under control", although the escape is still active.
"In the educational institutionFederico Engels Primary of the Sancti Spíritus municipality, preventive measures are adopted in the event of a situation caused by a gas leak," said the political leader.
Firefighting teams and rescue and rescue professionals were in charge of guaranteeing the safety of the students and the population around the school. More than 900 students are evacuated.
"The gas leak no longer poses a danger to the workers and residents of the community," said Pérez Martín.
In March it was reported afire due to a suspected gas leak at the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital, in the city of Sancti Spíritus.
The fire started during the night, in the pantry area of the intermediate therapy room. Fortunately, in that case there was no loss of human life or injuries, but the incident did leave material damage.
