A major fire engulfed the garage of a home in the municipality of Ranchuelo, in the province of Villa Clara, due to a malfunction in the battery of an electric motorcycle.
The incident occurred at house number 14 on Antonio Maceo Street, between Juan B. Contreras and Camilo Cienfuegos, according to a Facebook post.
Although the fire rendered the electric motorcycle completely unusable and caused structural damage to the home, no human losses were reported.
The unfortunate event occurred just as the territorial defense day was taking place in the area.
Firefighters, employees of the electrical company, and local leaders arrived at the scene of the fire.
Another electric motorcycle was completely burned this Sunday in Havana, according to a post made in the Facebook group ACCIDENTES BUSES & CAMIONES por más experiencia y menos víctimas!
In this case, there were no damages to the home because, as seen in the photos, the electric motorcycle was outside the building.
Although the fire did not cause major harm, users expressed their disappointment over the incident, arguing that acquiring one of these means of transportation in Cuba entails significant sacrifice.
Amid the crisis facing the nation, which has impacted transportation for the people, Cubans are doing everything they can to keep their motorcycles running, often at the risk of their integrity.
Fires are more common in vehicles powered by lithium batteries. These incidents have resulted in countless material losses and, above all, dozens of deaths and injuries to those involved.
