The Reserve Division General, Leonardo Ramón Andollo Valdés, deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power, died in Havana this Friday.
He Ministry of the Armed Forces (MINFAR) and Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, confirmed the death of the Cuban General with messages on social networks.
"It is with deep pain that we receive the news of the death of the Reserve Division General Leonardo Ramón Andollo Valdés. Established revolutionary, whose loyalty to Cuba he demonstrated since his entry into MINFAR. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends," said Morales Ojeda.
Andollo Valdés was a relevant figure within the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) and had a notable participation in various military operations, including the Cuban mission in Ethiopia. He held the position of Second Chief of the General Staff and Head of the Operations Directorate of the FAR.
Leonardo Ramón Andollo Valdés He was born on November 6, 1945 in El Cerro, Havana. He began his military career in the National Revolutionary Militias in 1960. He later trained in military engineering in the Soviet Union and reached leadership positions in the FAR Engineering Directorate.
He was appointed Chief of Staff of the Mission in Ethiopia in 1977 and, upon his return to Cuba, assumed important roles in the Western Army, including head of the Engineering Directorate.
Throughout his career, he was promoted to Brigadier General in 1989 and later to Major General. In addition, he contributed to the Permanent Commission for the Implementation and Development of the economic and social model of Cuban society.
His death marks, for the regime, the loss of a faithful and active member of the PCC, the FAR and a veteran of the National Assembly of People's Power.
