Florida consolidated itself as a tourism leader in the United States in 2023 and is experiencing a rebound in international visits with source markets from Europe and America.
The southern state maintains its leadership both nationally and internationally, as announced by the governor Ron DeSantis, based on portal data Visit Florida.
The market share in domestic tourism increased to 14.8% in 2023, from 13.8% in 2022, marking the most significant growth compared to other states.
Governor DeSantis attributed this success to Florida's "world-class attractions and exceptional hospitality," as well as its "unwavering commitment to freedom."
In his opinion, these are factors that have reinforced the region's position as the preeminent vacation destination.
In addition, Florida has registered a notable increase in international tourism, capturing 25.2% of the market share of foreign travelers to the United States in 2023.
In March 2024, visits from abroad exceeded pre-pandemic levels, with an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2019.
The most dynamic markets include the United Kingdom, Germany and Mexico, with increases in visits of 12%, 28% and 61%, respectively.
"Florida's ability to attract visitors from around the world is a testament to its vast appeal both domestically and internationally," he said. Dana Young, president and CEO of Visit Florida.
DeSantis also emphasized that the state's focus on "public safety and common sense leadership" has been key to these achievements.
