The American company American Airlines confirmed its intention to increase flights from Miami to Havana, thus strengthening commercial and tourist ties between both destinations.
The official press cited statements from Ramon Jimenez, representative of American Airlines for Cuba, within the framework of the recent International Tourism Fair (FitCuba 2024).
"Our goal is to achieve operational efficiency that supports operations continuously and effectively," Jiménez explained.
The representative of American Airlines He highlighted that last year was significant because regular operations were consolidated, with 83 weekly flights from Miami to several Cuban destinations including Havana, Varadero, Santa Clara, Camagüey, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft and Airbus A319.
"From the Miami hub, which is a global strategic point, we operated almost 5,000 flights on the Cuba-United States route last year, transporting more than half a million passengers," added Jiménez.
These figures are close to those recorded before the pandemic, reflecting a significant recovery, especially in the South Florida market.
American Airlines occupies a prominent place in the American and global airline market, it is in the process of implementing several projects to improve operational ease at airports.
Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, it operates to more than 250 international destinations from its main hubs, including Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia, New York and Charlotte.
