Three armed men broke into the home of a young man this Sunday in broad daylight in the city of Holguin to steal a motorcycle and other valuable belongings, as revealed on social networks by the victim's father.
“Yesterday, in broad daylight, around two in the afternoon, three armed men entered my son's house. They took his motorbike, wallet, phone and a chain.”Yosvani Díaz denounced on Facebook.
“Help share this post. In the city of Holguín there are weapons on the street“added the complainant.
Díaz shared a photo of the stolen vehicle, a striking pink motorbike. Although he did not specify what types of weapons the criminals were carrying, they apparently were firearms.
CyberCuba has contacted the complainant with a view to obtaining more information about the circumstances of the incident, which occurred in the Alcides Pino neighborhood, according to a source with knowledge of the case specified in the comments.
The complaint generated dozens of expressions of support for the family, as well as shock at the proliferation of violent robberies of all kinds in Cuba.
“Violence in Holguín no longer has limits”said one Internet user when describing the crisis of violent incidents in that province.
Although in recent weeks the general perception is of a slight decrease in reports of such events on social networks, many argue that the rate of violence continues to be high on the island.
In March, a high Official from the Attorney General's Office denied that criminal violence has increased in Cuba, which includes the crimes of murder, manslaughter, injuries, robbery with violence and sexual assault.
Beatriz de la Peña La O, head of the Investigation Department of the Directorate of Criminal Proceedings, tried to divert attention to social networks and their ability to provide information with a greater reach.
According to the prosecutor, there is a false perception that there are more crimes, since the networks give greater visibility to the facts and the number of Internet users has grown.
In recent days it was news that the provincial court of Pinar del Río imposed up to eight years in prison for five young people under 20 years of age who assaulted to people armed with machetes.
In that case, the defendants were charged with the crime of robbery with violence and intimidation of people. The five defendants, who were in provisional prison, were between 16 and 19 years old at the time of committing the acts.
It was also news a sanction of 30 years in prison imposed by the provincial court of Havana on the author of a murder, in an event that occurred in the Boyeros municipality of Havana and was linked to an illegal departure from the country in which other crimes were committed.
However, reports of street robberies continue to emerge in which it is the neighbors who catch the thieves and hold them until the police arrive.
