A bus collided from behind an electric motorcycle this Monday at the traffic light at the intersections of Infanta and San Lázaro streets, in the municipality Havana Center, for unknown reasons.

A photo published by Javier Ruiz, the Internet user who reported the accident in the group of Facebook Bus & Truck Accidents, clearly shows how the bus impacted the light vehicle from the rear to the point that the seat was left almost in a vertical position.

Despite the shocking image, in the comments section the source specified that The motorcyclist would not have suffered major consequences thanks to the fact that he fell on the pavement and that his body was not pressed between both vehicles.

The way the driver's seat turned out makes him very lucky if he only suffered minor damage (Facebook/Bus & Truck Accidents)

“A neighbor who saw the accident told me in the afternoon - because I live right there - that the person on the motorcycle was thrown onto the pavement but apparently without major consequences. When he got up, he pulled the seat out over the top and thanks to that it was not pressed between the bus and the false tank (electric motorcycle).”, he detailed.

The same source indicated that the bus that was involved in the incident is state-owned, from the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH).

Although the causes of the accident are not clear, several Internet users agreed that Since it happened at a traffic light, the fault presumably lies with the bus driver, who would not have maintained the appropriate distance or speed.

“There is no discussion about that, the one behind must keep a good distance, also drive for him and for the one in front, that is to say, be aware that if there is a traffic light at the next intersection, have a reaction to what the driver is saying. "He goes ahead what he can do at the traffic light, always keeping his distance," observed one commentator.

However, there were those who pointed out that Perhaps the responsibility lay with the motorcycle for having braked suddenly or for having moved in front of the larger vehicle.

“Maybe the guy on the motorcycle was coming down the middle of the street because they think they own the road and he braked for a moment and the bus hit him,” one commentator surmised.

“If the person on the motorcycle applied the brakes for the moment and normally those motorcycles go at a maximum of 40 per hour in six meters they are braked and the person behind does not have time for anything. “This happens because there are people who think that all vehicles brake the same,” commented another Internet user.

Until the closing of this note, no other information has been released regarding the motorcyclist's clinical condition, nor other details about the accident.

Road accidents of all kinds have not let up on Cuban roads since the beginning of the year, following the same trend that already marked 2023.

Last year 729 people lost their lives in Cuba as a result of traffic accidents.

The authorities counted 8,556 road accidents that left 5,938 injured. The human factor was responsible for 91% of these events, the authorities said.
