Sewage waters flow freely on a street in Santiago de Cuba: "They pass by a doctor's office".

The leak of sewage water affects parents and children, who must endure the stench on their way to schools and workplaces.

A sewage leak flows uncontrollably through a street in the city of Santiago de Cuba, passing by a family doctor's office and in front of several homes, without the regime providing any solution to the problem.

Communicator Yosmany Mayeta denounced this Tuesday on Facebook that the lack of action by the local government regarding the water leak is affecting the residents of 7th Street, in the Altamira neighborhood, specifically mentioning children and elderly individuals.

"A river of contaminated water is flowing down the entire street," noted the activist, highlighting that health problems in that neighborhood are common due to landslides and sewage water."

According to Mayeta, this situation worsens because the community "is located downhill, and all the waste from the neighboring neighborhood 'El Ateneo' ends up there," she said.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the sewage leak is located near a supermarket that sells controlled and rationed products from the basic family basket and a nursery school, "where parents and children have to walk over these foul-smelling waters daily," the communicator denounced, warning that this situation puts children's health at risk.

"Avoid contamination of drinking water with this sewage water that can cause so many diarrheal problems in several neighboring communities," insisted Mayeta, blaming the regime and its inaction as responsible for the health situation in the Altamira community, a place where several anti-government protests have been recorded.

It is not the first time that blockages and leaks from sewage waters put the health of children at risk.

The parents of the children studying at the "Friendship with the Peoples" primary school, located in La Comercial of District 1 José Martí, in Santiago de Cuba, recently reported that the entrance and the assembly area where the morning assembly takes place were flooding with sewer water.

This is happening right now, the entrance is flooded with sewage water, making it difficult for children to enter their classrooms. The principal has stated that she has exhausted all resources by visiting all institutions, and they are not doing anything," one of the mothers reported.

Also in the city of Santiago de Cuba, some residents reported last March an obstruction of sewer water that reached the sewer and the drinking water tap in the area, with the consequent danger that this represents.

The incident occurred on the central Carretera del Morro, in different sections of both sidewalks, in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood.

"We are drinking shitty water," indignant neighbor affected told independent journalist Mayeta, who shared on Facebook several photos taken in front of the provincial headquarters of the Red Cross.
