Cuban woman with a lake of black water in front of her house resolves her situation after her complaint is made public.

"Now it is necessary for it to remain this way and for the rest of the city to be cleaned, which continues to swim in the apathy and injustice of an obsolete and decaying system."

A Cuban mother of two children who had been living for three months in a lake of dirty water has resolved her case after her complaint was published.

The woman lives in a corner house in Centro Habana, which was completely surrounded by sewage water due to a blocked drain.

After the activist Yamilka Lafita (Lara Crofs) posted the case on her Facebook profile, the company Aguas de La Habana contacted her, and by Saturday noon, their workers were already engaged in clearing and cleaning activities.

"Now it is necessary for it to remain that way and for the rest of the city to be cleaned up, which continues to swim in the apathy and injustice of an obsolete, decadent, and unequal system that has plunged the country into the greatest crisis we have faced as a nation," emphasized Lara.

The activist shared photos that allow for comparison of how that family was living and how clean the street is now, after the state company did its work.

"What I find amusing is that problems get solved when situations are published on Facebook or any other platform. I wonder, did it have to come to this when that desperate mother reached out to every possible place?" questioned a user in the comments section of the post.

"When they feel publicly challenged, they resolve things; they are like milk of magnesia, you have to shake them up," said another.

"That they get their act together, because here on every corner there is an overflowing pit and they do nothing," emphasized a third party.

The family affected by the blockage in the street, consisting of the mother, her husband, and their two children, lives at the corner of Desagüe and Oquendo streets.

With the enormous puddle of sewage water in front of the entrance and surrounded by stagnant water, mosquitoes, and accumulated trash, the father and one of the children contracted dengue.

Despite repeated complaints to the relevant authorities, both the director and the inspectors of Aguas de La Habana in the municipality ignored them.

The mother also contacted a brigade responsible for cleaning sewers, which promised to send a high-pressure truck to unclog the drainage, but never fulfilled its word.

"They told me they would send the truck, but it never arrived. The worst part is that they laughed when they mentioned my situation. I don't know where else to go," declared the overwhelmed woman.
