Florida reached record tourism numbers in 2023 by receiving over 140.6 million visitors, as reported by Governor Ron DeSantis.
According to the statistics released through a statement by the Republican this Friday, the so-called Sunshine State consolidates as the leading destination for travelers from around the world.
The new historical record from last year is added to the fact that in the first quarter of 2024, Florida received 40.6 million visitors, the highest figure ever recorded for a single quarter.
Once again, Florida leads the nation as an unparalleled destination for tourists (...). These record numbers show that our work has made Florida an even more attractive state for visitors," DeSantis emphasized.
The figures for 2023 represent an increase of 2.3% from the previous record of 2022. Among them, domestic visits reached a historic high of 129.1 million.
The state also received 8.3 million foreign visitors and 3.2 million Canadian visitors. Other countries leading the list are the United Kingdom, Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.
In the first quarter of 2024, foreign visits amounted to 2.1 million, with 1.3 million being Canadian.
The total number of visitors in the first quarter of 2024 reached 40.6 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.2% and the highest number of visitors ever received in a single quarter, highlights the information.
At the same time, domestic flights at 19 airports in Florida increased by 8.9% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the first quarter of 2023.
National flights accounted for 81.6% of the total flights, compared to 82.0% in the first quarter of last year.
With an incomparable natural beauty, the state has world-renowned attractions such as Disney parks or the southern beaches on its east and west coast, many of which are among the best in the country.
