Maternity hospital director displays explicit photo of deceased pregnant woman in Havana.

Ernesto Cordoví not only violated all the ethical standards of medicine, but also, and with special cruelty, blamed the mother without evidence for the death of his own daughter.

Ernesto Cordoví, who serves as the director of the Maternal Hospital "Hijas de Galicia" in Havana, posted on his Facebook wall the explicit and uncensored image of the intestines of a pregnant patient who had passed away a few hours earlier at seven months of pregnancy.

The lack of ethics of the aforementioned director, who is also an enthusiastic YouTuber and "revolutionary" cyber-fighter, was triggered after Janet Zulueta Curbelo, the mother of the deceased Cuban young woman, published an accusation accusing the doctors of negligence and poor care.

Laura Castillo Zulueta, 29, was transferred twice on Wednesday, May 15, to the Hospital Materno Hijas de Galicia, where she was "mistreated and poorly attended to," as narrated by her own mother in a heartfelt Facebook post. These words were enough to unleash the anger of the center's director, who not only posted images of the surgical intervention but also private details that include confidential medical information of the deceased woman.

Ernesto Cordoví not only violated all ethical norms of medicine, but also, and with special cruelty, blamed the mother for the death of his own daughter, and, not satisfied, he verbally attacked constantly on Janet Zulueta Curbelo's profile.

Cordoví's post has received over 300 comments on Facebook, some of which criticize the unnecessary and cruel use of explicit photographs by the management of a health institution; however, up to this moment, the post has not been modified. The string of insults includes the aforementioned doctor passing judgments on the patient's mother and blaming her with total impunity by stating that "due to her decision, her only daughter is dead."

Additionally, at the end of her post, she points out that "healthcare in Cuba is free, not mandatory," and that adults are responsible for their own actions, once again referring to the victim's mother.

The picture (without pixelation) was published by Cordoví.

The YouTuber turned director of a maternity hospital will need to be reminded of the Hippocratic Oath that all doctors must fulfill: "All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal." In any case, Cordoví did not express such anger when, at the beginning of 2023, around ten newborns died due to an infectious outbreak in the same hospital he now directs in Havana.

In a country that rewards servility and flattery, it is not surprising to see unethical people leading state institutions. Now Cubans who go to hospitals on the island know that private and explicit photos taken by the doctors themselves during surgeries can end up on the Facebook wall of some enthusiastic "revolutionary."
