The Cuban activist Irma Lidia Cepero (known on social networks as Irma Broek) announced this Thursday the death of her sister, 57 years old and identified as Rosa María Toledo, due to alleged medical negligence at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech hospital in Camagüey.
In an overwhelming video published on April 11, Broek explained that his sister, who had a history of several pathologies, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart disease, had arrived at 8 a.m. on April 10 with severe pain in her body. Guard of the aforementioned hospital.
After being examined, the doctors concluded that she had cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder) and that she had to undergo emergency surgery.

Broek reported thatIn all that time there were no pain medications or serums. He explained that when he arrived at the living room he was already so weak that he fell into a coma. They intubated her and finally operated on her.
“What I am denouncing is the time that was lost from 8 in the morning until 11 at night with all the pathologies that I had”Irma denounced.
“What has to happen so that in Cuba patients who arrive at a hospital with an emergency are treated properly? What has to happen? "How long do we have to continue losing family members due to medical negligence, due to lack of supplies, due to lack of everything, of humanity?" Rosa María Toledo's condition has not improved substantially in all these days. She had various complications that ultimately led to her death.
In recent days, Irma Broek has been documenting her sister's clinical evolution. In several publications he urged health authorities to do their job.
In a publication two days ago, the activist explained thatRosa María was still in an “induced coma” but, according to her relatives in Cuba, her sister was receiving “good care.”
However, this Thursday the activist finally announced the death of her sister.
“Today it was our family's turn, tomorrow it could be anyone's turn! Finally, my little sister passed away. He fought for eight days to survive, but the damage caused by medical negligence at the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital was irreparable,” denounced Broek, who has lived in Germany for 30 years.
“Right now I can't find the right words. I just want to let you know that my sister became another victim of the so-called 'Cuban medical power,'" added the activist, who is the administrator of the well-known Facebook group "Denouncing crimes in Cuba."
“God will have you in a very beautiful place, my little sister, together with mommy and our little brother. E.P.D. Rosa, you will be eternally in my heart and I will fight until my last breath so that other Cubans do not suffer as you had to do, nor lose their lives because of incompetent doctors without principles or values,” he added in his heartfelt farewell.
In the comments section of the publications, dozens of people have sent messages of condolences to Broek, while many have reiterated the terrible public health conditions in Cuba, which have made complaints of medical negligence on the island common.
