The Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugás came to the defense of former U.S. President Donald Trump, after the verdict of the court declaring him guilty of 34 offenses was announced.
The boxer shared a text on his Facebook profile in which he asserts that the legal process against Trump was politicized and that its outcome is breaking the history of the United States.
"This is something absurd, they are minor crimes that turned into a felony. And the prosecutor in the case campaigned promising to send Trump to prison. Now everyone is waiting for July 11th to see if Judge Merchant will have the courage to send him to prison. In any case, this will lead to an appeal and all of this will happen after the elections," he said.
Donald Trump is going to win an easy election in November. They have turned him into a victim, because most people think that this is a politicized process," he emphasized.
In Ugás' opinion, Trump is just a married man who is protecting his family from a mistake.
We have such a divided country that it's scary. The United States is an example for the world, and with these things, the enemies are celebrating," he concluded.
Other Cubans have shown their support for Trump after the recent judicial setback he just suffered.
The reggaeton artist Osmani García expressed that the events involving the former Republican president are proof of the lack of freedom currently existing in the United States.
I speak to you as an American citizen. This year, my vote is going to be -whether I am free or not- it is going to be for Donald Trump," he expressed.
The interpreter of "El Taxi" said that if Trump goes to prison, American citizens would be allowing themselves to be turned into slaves, like the Cubans in Cuba.
"We already know where all this is coming from, the defamation, the mechanism they are using with Donald Trump to discredit him is the same as what has been done in Cuba for 60-something years. We know all of these things, we understand the game, the show, the theater, with the only person who can make the United States a great country again," he detailed.
