They report in Cuba 968 MW of power outages with the forecast of imminent improvement.

Four blocks of three thermoelectric plants are out of service due to breakdowns, including Block 1 of Felton, which technicians aim to get up and running this Saturday.

The Cuban Electric Union (UNE) reported power outages due to a deficit of 968 MW on Friday, with an expectation of improvement for this Saturday.

According to the report shared on Facebook, the impact due to a generation capacity deficit persisted 24 hours a day, and by early Saturday morning, the service had not been restored. The peak impact occurred at 8:30 pm.

On this day, at 7:00 am, the availability of the national electrical system (SEN) was 2180 MW and the demand was 2450 MW, with 294 MW affected. The forecast for midday was a maximum impact of 800 MW.

For peak hours, there must be an availability of 2660 MW and a maximum demand of 3100 MW, leading to a deficit of 440 MW, causing a forecasted impact of 510 MW, lower than that of the morning.

At the time of writing this note, four blocks of three thermoelectric power plants are out of service due to breakdowns, including Block 1 of Felton, which Union Electric experts believe could restart its operations this Saturday.

In addition, two units of the Santa Cruz and Nuevitas thermoelectric power plants are undergoing maintenance.

On the other hand, 41 distributed generation plants are out of service due to lack of fuel, and 364 MW are affected by limitations in thermal generation.

The Felton went out of the system on Thursday due to a boiler break, and technicians are working to get it running again this Saturday.

By Friday, the operation to enter the boiler was scheduled for around 4:00 am, with a suitable temperature for the technicians' work.

In the midst of the current crisis, the malfunction that occurred at the Holguin thermoelectric plant had a significant impact on the distribution of electrical energy, primarily in the eastern region, as it caused a frequency trigger that affected line 5545, which supplies the circuits belonging to the municipality of Bartolomé Masó and the La Curva Substation in Granma.

The Electric Company of that province announced that disruptions would occur "outside the scheduled rotation schedule planned by the blocks".

"The circuits will experience a six-hour power service disruption, with three hours of power service depending on the behavior and availability of the country's electrical generation," detailed.

On Thursday, power outages due to generation capacity deficits lasted for 24 hours, and by the following early morning, the service had not yet been restored. For Friday, the UNE announced cuts due to a deficit of almost 1,000 MW during peak hours.

The breakdown occurred in unit 1 of the facility due to a "puncture" in the tubes on the left side wall, just over three meters high.

Identify damaged mooring bitts (tubes) and perform replacement or welding operations, a key task. If everything goes well, the unit is likely to resume operations on Saturday," said the UNE.
