The experts from the Electric Union (UNE) believe that the Felton thermoelectric plant could resume its operations this Saturday, after being taken out of the system due to a boiler breakdown on Thursday.

Operation to enter the boiler room was scheduled for Friday around 4:00 am, with a suitable temperature for the technicians' work.

The rupture occurred in unit 1 of the facility due to a "puncture" in the tubes on the left side wall, just over three meters high.

Identify damaged mooring bitts (pipes) and perform replacement or welding operations, a crucial task. If everything goes well, the unit is likely to resume operations on Saturday," said UNE on their Facebook page.

In the midst of the current crisis, the breakdown that occurred at the Holguin thermal power plant had a significant impact on the distribution of electricity, mainly in the eastern region, as it caused a frequency surge that affected line 5545, which supplies the circuits belonging to the municipality of Bartolomé Masó and the La Curva Substation in Granma.

The Electric Company of that province warned that there would be disruptions "outside the planned rotation schedule by blocks."

"The circuits will experience a power outage of six hours, and with electricity service of three hours depending on the behavior and availability of the country's power generation," he detailed.

On Thursday, power outages due to generation capacity deficits lasted 24 hours, and by the following morning the service had not yet been restored. By Friday, UNE announced cuts due to a deficit of almost 1,000 MW during peak hours.

According to content creator Emilio Rodríguez Pupo, quoted by the official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, the workers at Felton began the "cooling process for corrections."

"The work will require no less than three days, due to the boiler cooling process," the information specified.
